Visitors to the
2013 EICMA show in Milan voted the new
Ducati Monster 1200S the “Most Beautiful Bike of Show”.
The new Monster powered by
Ducati‘s liquid-cooled 11-degree Testastretta engine received the most votes out of more than 10,000 ballots to win the honor. Second place went to the
Turismo Veloce 800 from
MV Agusta, which captured the
honor at last year’s show with the Rivale 800. Completing an all-Italian podium in third place was the 2014
Aprilia RSV4 Factory ABS, an impressive result for a returning model.
In fact, Italian motorcycles have won every year since the honor was first awarded in 2005 by Italian publication Motociclismo to the MV Agusta
Brutale 910R. Ducati and MV Agusta have passed the award back and forth between them for the last nine years. There may be some inherent bias towards Italian manufacturers considering the show takes place in Milan, but Ducati and MV Agusta do have a long reputation for making attractive motorcycles.
The
BMW R nineT was the top vote-getter among non-Italian models, followed by the
Kawasaki Z1000 and the
Yamaha MT-09 Street Rally.
