2004 250R

Picked up a 2004 250R w/ 2400 miles over easter, this is my first street motorcycle and has been an adventure through and through.
The bike was left setting for 10+ years with basic fuel in the tank.
I've cleaned the carbs, done the airbox modification, fuel filter, replaced spark plugs ( couple of times) and replaced tires, most of my work so far has been focused on the carburetors and running / idle issues.
I've come to the conclusion the bike needs to have the valves adjusted. Its typically pretty tricky to get running.
1st try it will kick over and start for however long I can keep it idling. After the first try though it will crank and crank until some starting fluid is applied.

I am not a complete mechanical novice, but am intimidated by this job. Also now fully understand why newer bikes may be a better choice for newer riders.
Also, the idea of taking it down for a couple more days has me chomping at the bit to ride it ...

Curious if any members are in the Cleveland Ohio area who have some experience with this?
