im finding the same on my bike. THe motor is pretty reliable, but i really would like the internals to be a more durable. I think with other motors i have had a st1100 with 125k miles it didnt need anything, my st1300 had 73k, yamaha r1 had 71k , speed triple 75k.. etc.. never had to do any motor work on those.
