There's just enough room. I cheaped out and got the single long ram arm and it just tucks under the windshield. I can push it a little further back and that would likely be far enough to protect it from a light rain, but I don't use it when it's wet since I try not to ride in the rain as much as possible. The double arm setup is probably the most adjustable, but the single one works just fine. the biggest downside is that the iPhone won't fit in the cradle with a case on it. I have both 3GS and iPhone 4 cradles, the 3GS cradle is closer with the iPhone 4 and case I've got and would likely fit with some mods to the cradle, i'm just not that adventurous.
