there is no difference between ABS and non ABS levers, it's a sales gimmick

I like to 2finger brake and use all of my fingers on the clutch when downshifting. Shorty levers are just barely too short to be comfortable with a 3rd finger when I'm wearing my gauntlet gloves and regular length is too long to be comfortable with 2 finger braking if I pull it in all the way (i.e. it hits my ring/pinky)

same reason one would need spare handlebars, also chris is right you shouldn't crash at a track day though it is always possible you shouldn't be riding more than 75-80% of your capability on a track day while racing you use everything you have.
