Will be checking switch and sol tonight.
It has to be something simple. It runs like a champ when it starts.
So you hit the starter button, the engine cranks but doesn't fire over and other times you hit the starter button and it fires right up.

Is that correct?

it takes 4 things to make a bike run, Air, Fuel, Spark, and Compression.

I think we can rule out compression (although you might be having a valve sticking I would think the other cylinder would pop a bit).

I think we can rule out air.

So either your bike isn't getting fuel or it isn't getting spark. I'd look at spark first.

Carry a spare spark plug, next time your bike doesn't start unplug a plug wire put it on your spare spark plug, ground the plug to your engine and hit the starter button. I'm betting you won't have spark. Now start looking for electrical problems that lead to spark.

My son's Harley had similar problem, ended up being a broken wire on the input to the coil.
