Thanks guys. I did try to go by the directions in the wiki and kept running the engine and topping off until I got to just under the full mark. It was only after I took it off the rear stand that the oil looked to be beyond the full line.

As for oil, I used synthetic Rotella T6, 5w-40.

I may drain a little bit of oil just to be safe. For what it's worth, it appeared that the previous owner had it overfilled as well. Sigh.
