A lot of times, switches "look" fine, but are electronically defective. Only way to confirm is by measuring them.

Appreciate it! I did get it to turn on with the new battery but am still a newbie when it comes to working on bikes so I may take you up on your offer thank you! Gonna put in some new gas in it & probably change the oil & filter.
