2009 250r with 40,000 miles.

I recently noticed my front sprocket has a good bit of play in first gear.

That is to say:
On a rear stand, engine off, in gear, the front sprocket can turn about 5 degrees, forward or backward before "stopping".

I never noticed this before.
Is this normal, a problem, or a sign of wear?
