N1000 vs ZX10R That might be right, but not to the same extent. Panigale is the lower spec and is Duc's superbike. ZX10R is the up-spec and is Kawi's superbike. Panigale R goes further than that with different engine internals.
This is largely a case of syntax, but I don't really see it as the same method. All manufacturers sneak stuff into special (more expensive) models for the sake of Homologation.
