As far as traffic and congestion, the Sturgis rally is in the beginning of August. There will be thousands of bikes in that area.

I would go to the state websites for all the states you want to visit. Then I would go to the best motorcycle roads websites and map the journey that way. Then I would get any and all of the girls on the 250 sites to put you up for as many nights as you need.

You will be traveling through a mostly wide open area so traffic should not be a problem. Weather might be a different story. You will have to check the weather websites to pick the best time to leave.
