But those are probably the type of ear plugs you hate.

I really wish someone would design a full face helmet that had the ear muff type hearing protection with speakers designed into it. Maybe have a little air pump like the shoes have to bring the muffs tight to the ears. Put the helmet on, squeeze the bulb a few times for a nice snug fit and some decent noise reduction. The just push a button to release the air before taking helmet off.
