Absolutely correct. I don't worry about sidewall cracking too much. I've got a $600.00 set of Michelin tires on my mini van with slight sidewall cracking and lots of good tread. I'm not about to replace them. I might be a-little more cautious with a motorcycle tire though. I've never had a sidewall blow-out and I've run some pretty funky tires in the past.
