Lots of stuff gets outsourced, but IT Security seems to stay in house, and pays better.

I'd start with the lower level certifications and then go for a CISSP.

I've been a CISSP for over 9 years. There is zero unemployment in this field as long as you maintain your certifications and eligibility to work (ie don't get convicted of a crime, fired, ect.....)
