I had 55w fog lights on my Honda Elite Scooter and they worked great.

I installed one of those hyper blue bulbs (6000k I think) on my pre-gen and I hav'nt given HID a second thought since. Bulb was $7 on Ebay. It has that icy blue look to it but most importantly it puts out alot more light that adds clarity.
