Nothing wrong with pulling it apart before start up, quite opposite IMO.

Having a good look with the heads off and the ability to easily clean out all the crud that may be in there is a safe route.

Plus parts aren't that expensive and the return is always welcome.

Seeing though its been sitting for a while you will also get a good idea on all the rubber bits and peices that are now kaput.

Have you got a time line and budget, or are you just going to wing it?

Keep the updates and pics coming, remember to not lose to many nuts and bolts.
