I've been telling my cousin who lives in East Bay to get a pre-gen Ninja 250 for ages.
My first Ninja 250 was an 07 model, I bought it back in winter of 2012 for $450.
It had a salvage title because the cable guide that's welded to the frame was broken off... it was considered totaled because of frame damage.
It also had a nice dent on the fuel tank, broken front fender, misc cosmetic issues and needed carbs to be cleaned and sync'ed.. but it only have 4100 miles on odometer.
I cleaned out the bike and rode it for little over 8k miles before selling it at $850... didn't even change the tires/chain/sprockets.
