I would not be too concerned. Those plugs melted down in 17 miles. They may have been counterfeit. Motorcycles forums have lots of stories about champions melting down. The usual problem is the reference chart is off, always way to hot.

I have cheap bore scope. When in doubt I have a look in the cylinder. Also comes in very useful when buying a used bike.

I have never had a problem with NGK.

There I stick with the dealer supplied plugs for my Harley. Someone makes them, but the have the Harley logo.plus the electronics have some thing called ion sensing. Has something about anti-knock.
