Needles and carb adjustments won’t blow back mixtures. You put the Lucas in gas tank right?

Blow-back is coming from inside engine. Interaction between valve-timing and piston motion. Unless you poured the Lucas into your cylinders. In which case, you may have hydrolocked and cracked pistons.

1. Take pictures of your crank-position mark at TDC.
2. Take pictures of your cam-timing marks
3. Measure all your valve clearances
4. Do compression check
5. Measure your ignition-timing at idle.

Post results here. You’d be surprised at how many things are off when you have concrete numbers and data.
