I just look on eBay for filters and buy them. I'm surprised you couldn't find what you need. Usually they're like 10 for $10 for 1/4" or 3/16" fuel line.
If they're a little loose, put cable ties or clamps on them. I'm using 1/4" Tygon fuel line so they fit properly.

I see so you didn't get a 5/16 or 8mm fuel filter
In general, this is a bad idea being slow down the flow rate which would work fine if was just one carb but not pair carbs I keep look soon or later I fine what I'm look for even I have to get a Fram G4167 that used on the old Subaru from 80's
