I was in high school in 1975, and driving to a bicycle race with my racing buddies when I saw a Honda Civic for the first time. A couple of us laughed and pointed at the silly clown car, but one of the guys said "I hear those are pretty good cars." Little did any of us know that the downfall of the US auto manufacturers had begun. They were way too slow to respond, believing that people in the US wanted what they had always wanted, and always would.
Same with Kodak and Polaroid when digital cameras came along, Mag when LED flashlights appeared, etc.
