I didn't think of that! Ca is mean too... I once let a car lapse because I was going to scrap it, then I got nasty letters from the DMV threatening me with the tax man. I had to pay to officially be clear to let it go, although I don't recall how much it was. This COULD actually be a bargaining chip.
