When I started riding 4 years ago (detroit michigan area), just about every body would return a wave. About 99 out of 100.

Since our helmet law was repealed, that has changed to about 7 out of 10*. Mostly lidless harley riders that don't return a wave. The only lidless riders that wave back are old dudes (70+) on classic standards**, and squidly sport bike riders.

*all statistics in this post have been made up to fit my anecdotal evidence.

** oddly, the old dudes often have a helmet hanging off the back seat, wtf, they must be on the way to pick up the girlfriend.
