Having done this many times, I can offer a little instruction:

1. pull tank/whatever plastics are in your way
2. loosen the airbox by pulling the bolts under the battery
3. unscrew the carb-to-head boot clamps
4. pull the tray back (about half an inch)
5. pull the carbs back into the space you created in the step above
6. wiggle/persuade the carb-to-head boots out
7. disconnect throttle and choke cables
8. remove carbs
