From what you are describing it looks like your float valves are leaky as well as the tank valve. The gas leaks into the cylinder and causes the hydrolock. It then leaks down into the oil pan and pushed out into the exhaust as well. You need to take the carbs off and service them. You also need to rebuild the valve so it only opens when the vacuum is created by the engine.
