And then I rebuilt my Chrysler 360 van engine and ended up with about $1,800 in machining and parts, only to find I could buy a rebuilt one with a warranty for something like $1,300. As you said, I know that every bearing and piston clearance and cam lift and duration number is correct though. But if I had to do it again, I'd get the rebuilt engine. A racing application would be different.
