I had a Honda that I replaced the friction plates on. I bought the friction plates on eBay a few years before. When I installed them the clutch didn't work correctly. The eBay seller sold me a set of friction plates which were all identical, however, the Honda FT 500 had one friction plate with slightly different dimensions. I bought the oddball friction plate and all was well. The Honda Service Manual make no distinction among the friction plates. I checked Partzilla.com and they only have one part number for all the friction plates on the Ninja. I do know this that you have to have the helical cuts in the friction plates aligned correctly and there are marks on the clutch basket and spring plate that must be aligned. I haven't changed my friction plates yet but I did have the right crankcase cover off this past spring and I couldn't find the alignment marks. I have a mental note to make my own marks before disassembling my clutch in the future.

All this probably isn't much help, sorry.

Bill
