I guess I'm late to the party, but mid-size bikes are my jam. I've been on a gen 2 SV650S for years now and it is a fantastic machine. I sold my CBR600 after I got the 650 because it ticks off so many boxes. I'm pretty sure if you can put some miles (and a few trackdays in) on a Ninja 250 then move up to a 650/700 class twin, there will not be a single liter-bike bro who could keep up with you. Ninja 250s and SV650s train up really efficient, well-rounded riders.
