Dunno if it's the same back east, but OMRRA/WMRRA seem to have backed off a bit - rulebooks specify the recalled K&Ns. I've passed tech with nut-free HiFlo and Wix filters. Track day providers don't have it specified, and I don't see them sending a newbie home for it. It'd probably be looked at *real* close, though.

Kind of a bummer, those nuts *are* handy for getting the things off. I've yet to find a filter wrench that really works well.

Part of me is tempted to get one of those reusable steel mesh/magnetic ones.
