He had motocross boots on, helmet, gloves, and 'light' elbow padding.
All things considered, he's "lucky" in that he's a resilient kid and he doesn't seem to have too much of a mental hang up on it. He's very cognizant of what he did wrong and quite vocal about it, but still calls me frequently to ask about riding next summer when he visits again.
Next round I'll be suiting him up in beefier padding though.
