I think that it is a cult thing. I have been told that when a Brooks is broken in, that it is the most comfortanle saddle around. They take a long time to break in. I suppose that people like to futz with them, saddle soap them, play with the tensioners, etc. I have WTB Street Smart saddles on five of my bikes. My Univega Viva Sport (a restoration) in mint condition, has a suede Avocet saddle which rubs my crotch raw. I only put that saddle on for the classic bike meets. My dream is still to find an all chrome Schwinn Paramount with Campagnolo Nuevo Record Grouppo.
