Actually it's just the 600 class that's on the skids. Honda has discontinued the CBR600RR, and I've heard the the Triumph Daytona is also gone.

Superbikes, on the other hand, are alive and well. R1 and ZX10 both got major upgrades in the last few years, S1000RR had a significant refresh recently, and this year the CBR1000RR looks absolutely awesome. Plus the GSX-R1000 major update. And Ducati has been plugging away with new model intros.
