^^^ I know where you're coming from, but that would have required all the necessary testing, certifications, and whatever all else is included with releasing a new engine in a new vehicle. Using the same engine is great for reducing the costs.

I get the feeling this is a "new model" because everyone was crying about how old the R6 was, but it's really just a measure to boost sales and reduce the cost of production. Needing to certify a new engine and redo the tooling to produce it is expensive when they already have a kickass 4 cylinder engine that seems to be fairly bulletproof and well known.
