When you renew your license there are extra things you need to provide in order to get it. If you choose not to, the extra items are not required.

I just looked that up. Ohio is doing the same thing starting in July of this year. All the documents the article talked about having to have to get the Real ID (proving you are here legally, social security number, full legal name, etc) are what the Ohio BMV page says you have to have to get your motorcycle temps.
