I bet once you drop the front 2" you'll be able to do better than just get the balls of your feet down, and that's not too drastic of a drop so as to mess up the bike. It sounds like you'll get it to fit. I've heard of people shaving the seat foam down, and I would wager there is a LOT of foam under that red vinyl...
