[motorcycle.com] - Husqvarna to Present Three Street Bikes at EICMA

Husqvarna annonced it will present a three new street-legal motorcycles at the upcoming EICMA show in Milan. One will be ready for production while the other two are concept prototypes offering a look at the brand’s direction.

The new production model will use a large* displacement single-cylinder engine, likely based on the 690 Duke from Husqvarna’s parent company KTM. Husqvarna says the new model will offer state-of-the-art technology while staying true to the brand’s heritage.

Husqvarna is even more vague with its two prototypes, only saying they will “showcase lightweight construction and functionality, premium quality hardware and uncompromised design.”

The new model will be Husqvarna’s first pure street bike since KTM Chief Executive Officer Stefan Pierer acquired the brand from BMW. Husqvarna previously produced the TR650 Terra and Strada and the Nuda 900 and 900R, but they all used technology that still belongs to BMW and were not included in the sale.

We’ll be in Milan offering live coverage of the 2014 EICMA show. Coverage starts on Nov. 3 with some pre-show announcements but Husqvarna’s reveal will be saved for the big press day on Nov. 4.
