That was an interesting video, but it wasn't the same as the Ninja. It did show the basics of how it works. He didn't really cover what it is that keeps the key from coming out. I looked at a few other videos too, but didn't find one that explained Ninja locks.
The facts in my case:
1. The key can pull out easily in any position - even in-between positions.
2. If I remove the key in-between positions and then insert the wrong key, the lock will turn to the next position, but no further.
3. The wrong key will not turn when inserted normally.
4. The correct key turns easily without any jiggling.
The bike has about 29K miles on it so it could be that something is just worn out and needs replacing. That's why I'm thinking about riding to a locksmith and letting him come out and look at it in the parking lot.
