I had a 0 mph drop on my third ride around my neighborhood when I had a total of about 2 miles of motorcycling under my belt. It broke the right turn signal, bent the brake lever, and put a tiny scratch on the muffler. I replaced the broken parts and have had no trouble since then (~6 months/800 miles). I am a big scaredy-cat so I ride really conservatively. I get passed by Hyundais and old pickup trucks, but I don't care. Under my helmet is a big smile.
