I ended up swapping to a Ninja 300 rear shock. 20 min job super easy. For anyone who is thinking about doing the swap don't be afraid it's one of the easiest things I've done one the bike.
I haven't rode the bike yet after the swap but my GF has the same 07 250 as me and her's is stock. Mine has weight appropriate springs in the fork and the 300 shock in the rear, and her bike is like being on a rocking horse, the stock suspension is so bad. Maybe Santa will hook her bike up this winter.
