Posi-Tap

idk where to put this....

http://www.posi-lock.com/posiplug.html

I have just now discovered this awesome product that rather than splicing or crimping, allows you to just "tap" the line. Its a very cool easily installable and removable solution for wiring.

Neat

looks like a good easy way to add goodies but not sure if it is water resistant at the joint.

That's a good point so either stick it in a place that won't get wet or wrap it up and waterproof it

I have had good luck with the Posi-Lock connectors from them, but haven't used the Posi-Lock yet. I'm wondering how it maintains "total wire integrity" on the hot wire that is inserted first (not the one that is manually stripped). It seems that while screwing it tight, it must cut into that wire's covering at some point, otherwise how could it make that connection? It seems like a better-designed vampire tap, but all of those are half-ass solutions compared to stripping/crimping/sealing on a vibration factory like a motorcycle.

Yea it does just pierce the wire. On my first 250 my relay was installed using one. It was connected into the horn circuit. I rode that bike 13k miles and through cold rainy storms and it never failed. Even after my accident it was still working. Setasai helped me remove the relay from my 250 before it got scrapped and I'm now installing that same relay on my new(er) 250 and have discovered the awesomeness that is positap.

I'm not too concerned about it vibrating loose.

I actually got a couple of these with my auto tune system. Had no idea how to use them so just let them be. Stripped and soldered my way into the tail light wiring.
