Fix damaged fairings + make your bike look cool!
Well, I guess I'll start with some semi-pointless background info first. I bought my bike with a thin and almost unnoticeable crack around the turn signal. It was no big deal when I brought it home and I figured I'd just patch it up from the back to prevent it from spreading and call it good. Well, the next day I ended up dropping the bike at like 2mph on my very first ride (didn't warm it up enough and stalled on a slight incline w/ no throttle) and it crushed the turn signal inward. Needless to say, the crack got really big . I patched it up from the back really well but you can still see it. Today I tried touchup painting it; which did very little. At this point I think to myself, I'll just buy some sort of decal to cover it up so I started googling. To my dismay, I find nothing that covers up the area around the turn signal.
Now I think to myself, I can't be the only person who has dropped the bike and cracked the area around the turn signal, that's like the first part of the bike that hits the ground at low speeds, right? And even if the fairing doesn't crack, it usually does get scratched up; so why not make a decal that "fixes" the damage and makes the bike look cool? That seems better than paying $250 for a new fairing... So I open up photoshop and start drawing random designs that would cover the area up. I ended up with something similar to the 09 250R Special Edition, but IMO better. I sent the pic to bikevinyl.com, and the verdict is if we can get enough people to show some interest, he will setup a group buy so we can get the vinyls at a reasonable price. SO...let me know what you guys think! *The green stripes are areas where there wouldn't be any vinyl. And for reference, here is the 09 SE that I used for inspiration: Constructive criticism is welcome! |

Is the 250 like the 500 in that the front turn signals have a metal backing plate? 500 owners usually remove the backing plate so that a drop will not crack the fairing like that.
