Please recommend a HID kit for my Ninja 250R 2009 Special Edition

Hello all,

I had read couple threads here, but I'm still confused why most HID Kit don't come with the bulbs. (or maybe I'm just too inexperience in this area)

I would like to upgrade to HID headlights, but I had seen many kids online, not sure which one is good. I just want a brighter, white/blue colourish HID headlights, so I can order online and get it done.

It's my first time to order any motorcycle parts online, so I'm not sure which shop is trustworthy for this....

For example I had seen this one:
http://www.amazon.com/2008-Kawasaki-.../dp/B005FH1EGM

But it doesn't come with the bulbs, I would like to purchase with the HID Kit + both HID bulbs (the high beam and the regular) as well.

Thanks in advanced.

That kit you linked to has the bulbs.

I suggest reading a little more on hid kits and our reflectors. Its your decision and your bike, but Ultimately you want brighter lighting with a whiter output, right?

This kit will give you that. It will however, send bright light into opposing drivers eyes, potentially making them more dangerous. It also will not give even lighting, and will give bright spots and dark spots in the beam pattern.

High beam hid's are also not desirable. Hid bulbs by design take a good 5 seconds to get to a decent brightness. This means you will lose your high beam flick on and off.

The retrofit source has a bi-xenon projector hid kit, that will require a lot more work, but ultimately give you the lighting your looking for without adding dangerous drawbacks.

Thanks for your reply. Where can I find those retrofit sources with bi-xenon lights online?

Thanks.

It's definitely the way to go, but a bit more expensive, and a bit more work. No need to jump down your throat, just want to help you make a good decision.

I have the mini d2s kit in my wrx. Awesome lighting, and when you put on the highs, it's incredibly bright. I'm hoping to head that way with the bike, not too sure about that though.

I went with these:

http://www.motorcyclehidlights.com/k...-hid-kit-p-195

6000K. Made my sight distance 2-3 times further at night and they're not blinding to oncoming traffic when in low beam. I don't think there is a better practical upgrade out there, especially if you do any night riding. I 100% love these and installation was fairly simple.

+2 for TRS. I have the Morimoto Mini H1 in mine. It's a tad to big to be a direct 'plug and play', but it's a damned good system.

Sorry, I'm a n00b in this, it's my first time buying bike parts online and probably my first DIY too. Any help in this is much appreciated!

Thanks!

if you are running hids without projectors and think its not blinding other cars you're wrong

Where I live there is a strong desire to be able to illuminate the road at night when critters jump out at you however the glare meant that I couldnt see anything, not even the double yellow or the fog line (which is right next to a cliff edge on the riders side and a rocky hill on my side - no shoulder at all). A narrow, one lane each direction, no shoulder twisty windy mountain road.

The people that do this are like the loud pipe crowd. They are just going to get laws passed that ban any upgrades to headlights. California has responded to the loud pipe crowd by passing a law that starting model year 2013 it becomes illegal to use any aftermarket exhaust that is louder than stock. Almost all aftermarket exhausts are louder than stock.

CHP already claims that it is illegal to increase the wattage used or the brightness of stock headlights. I have looked but I am unable to find a law that actually forbids this nor can CHP provide me with a law after a couple of failed attempts. It is illegal to sell a vehicle with aftermarket brighter headlights, it is also illegal to sell those lights in CA but it does not appear to be illegal to own or use them on your personal vehicle.

So yeah, there is the safety thing (do you really want to blind a cager so they just run you over then sue you for causing the accident??) as well as screwing it up for everyone else because someone is too lazy, cheap or stupid to do it right. The kit vendors are a big part of the problem because they want to sell quick and easy kits and not tell people about projectors and why they are important.

So that means I can't get a Xenon headlights now!?

I actually don't think it makes sense to ban the loud exhaust. When I drive cars and hear a loud exhaust, I knew it was a motorcycle near me and I will be caution and not to run him over. It's important for motorcyclist to see and to be seen too!

people who listen for loud exhausts hear them. people who arent paying attention dont. its the people who arent paying attention that you need to worry about, so no. loud exhausts dont save lives. just like running with your brights on, or running hids without projectors does nothing but annoy people.

if you want fancy looking lights, buy a real projector hid. take your time modifying the stock oem housing. if you arent very good with it, buy a spare headlamp assembly so you can take your time with it and do it right.

you will be much better off assuming noone can see or hear you ever.

Currently it is not illegal to have them in California. There is a ban on selling them (personally or professionally) whether installed in a vehicle or not. I have never heard of this law being used but it does exist.

Yes!
That's exactly why I come here and ask!
But I don't know where to look and buy the legal headlights.

Too many recommendations here and I'm not even sure which one is legal and proper. Please advise.

Because it'll be also a DIY for me, so I prefer an easy-to-understand instruction when adding it too.

Thanks!
So do you have any recommended one? I would like to order online.

Thanks.
