Bloody cagers

Got a smack of a cage yesterday, in gear waiting in the yellow box to turn across a junction, caegs passing from behind on my left & oncoming cages from the right.

Dopy old bag drifted into a position where she was going to hit me head on, I blasted the horn & she pulled back almost clear of me, clipped the mirror & my right elbow

I watched as she pulled in & when it was clear I swung it around & had a few words with her. She was apologetic & seemed scared sh!tless (she was probably old enough to remember the bad times, when hearing an Irish accent from a balaclava usually meant you were getting your OBE, one behind the ear...)

No damage done to me or the bike, so a few stern words along the lines of "watch where you're going, if I didn't beep you'd probably have killed me" was enough to settle it.

I am simultaneously pleased and horrified by this sentence.

Great thing that she was not deaf

Very glad that you escaped that close call, Wiskey

Eeep. Did you consider jumping off the bike to the left or accelerating and turning into the left lane? I guess both of those options were off the table if there was heavy traffic on the left. I don't like the idea that there isn't an action you could have taken to put your fate in your own hands rather on relying on her hearing you and reacting in time. Scary situation!

I don't like being in the centre of those boxes... I feel pretty vulnerable in there; apparently for good reason.

glad you weren't killed by the old bag. does the UK have a bad driver reporting system like we do? report her license, maybe they will make her take another drive test

There's a bad driver reporting program?? Is this just in Cali or is it all over the US?

If she didn't react my best bet would have been accelerate 1/4 left & taken my chances, I'd probably have taken a similar hit but at a higher pace, or clipped someone else. Don't know if it would have occurred to me in time to go for it.

Any attempt at diving full right would have ended up with me being broadsided

That driver straight up aimed for that poor dude. I really hope the local police caught that a** and got him for attempted manslaughter.

Bloody old women more like! They are a straight up liability, and to be fair, from her generation, an irish man walking up to her in a balaclava off a motorcycle in england shouting would be the equivilant to a middle eastern man in a burka walking upto you outside the tower of london, with a waist that resembled a vacuum pack of frankfurters, smuggling hifi cabling that's poking out slightly from his sleaves :P

I bet you don't wear a burka! "Unless you're a chick, in any case you will find tshirts and jeans more conducive to acceptance in the developed world"

My point was english people of a certain age are **** scared of the Irish, it used to be that shops had signs saying "no dogs, no blacks, no irish" then the whole ira bombings came about and it was a very **** time in the 80's / 90's. I blame the pope.

Considering a burka is an article of women's clothing, I'd just be confused about an arabic man wearing one.
