Valve adjustment interval

I got rid of both of my Ninja 250's (2004 and 2008) a couple of years ago and am in the market again for another.Could someone tell me at what mileage a 2007 model is recommended to have the valves checked and adjusted?

The owners manual for the 2007 and earlier states that the first valve adjustment should be at 500 miles, then at 6,000, then 12,000 and every 6,000 afterwards. There's a link to view the owners manual from Kawi's site at the top of the pre-gen tech section:

http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=84112 (click on "maintenance and adjustment" once viewing the webpage)

For the new-gens, there is a similar thread at the top of the new-gen tech section:
