Can handlebars be removed from mounting brackets?

Hi. Quick question. I've done a search. Didn't find an answer. Can the bars be removed from the mounting brackets (the part that attatches to the triple with two allen screws)? I've removed the brackets with the bars attatched, but still didn't see a way to separate them from the bars. This makes no sense to me, as I can't imagine they are one piece. Hope I'm missing something.

Thanks in advance

Spence

There is a smal tack weld holding the bar in place. This can be removed with a small grinder and the bar will be free.

I just took a closer look at my bars and noticed that there is a thin bead of weld that goes all the way around the bar and is joined to some sort of ring with a notch in it. An experienced welder could cut the weld off with a torch or grinder.

thanks...

Damn, they sure don't want you to get 'em out of there

I got some adjustable clip-ons (telefix, from wild hair accessories, look neat, seem well-made, VERY adjustable) not because i want to be "sportier" but just to be able to experiment with changing the fore/aft angle of the bars-the stock set-up hurt my thumb-hand joint. Tried some other suggested remedies but they didn't help. Any way, I thought that if I could remove the bars from the brackets, I could simply install the clip-on brackets to the fork tubes and then insert the stock bars. That way I wouldn't have to reove the levers, etc from the old bars and install on the new ones. That would have made the process considerably easier-but not if I can't do it easily.

Oh well, c'est la vie

Thanks again
