Antigravity ATZ7 li-ion battery, which charger?
What up ninjetters, I have a battery charger question: what charger would you use for a lithium-ion battery? I ordered Antigravity's ATZ7 and their website recommends a charger made by CTEK that is not only pricey but on backorder from their site. I have heard that Battery Tender's Junior model with the selectable li-ion option is a good charger and I can pick it up on my way home today for $35. Is this a poor choice for the battery I chose? The ATZ7 has the "re-start" function, which I suppose adds a layer of complication.
Opinions?

That Battery Tender charger will work.
Lithium batteries need less complicated chargers, no de-sulphate mode needed. Which would actually damage lithium batteries. They can also take 10x charge-rate of lead-acid batteries, so are quite robust. Seems strange that BMS disconnects battery completely when drained without automatically reconnecting. But I guess that makes sense. They want to make sure you're connecting a charger or are going to ride bike to charge up battery. Otherwise with all modern bikes needing small amount to maintain clock & ECU memory, that little bit can completely drain battery rest of way and destroy it. Heck, I did that by leaving headlights on too long when I went to check postbox. I suppose I can work up headlight-relay that only keeps headlight on when engine's running. Then turns off if you stop bike. |

Now I'm having issues: I went out to start the bike yesterday and it was dead as a doornail. Not a glimmer of a light. Odd. Popped seat, hit the restart button, and the lights came on. Fired up the bike no problem, start coming off choke and it died as if I turned the key off. No lights, nothing.
It acts as if the battery has a poor connection. I hooked up my charger and the amber light flashes which, according to the charger, means the battery has a poor connection. I confirmed that the battery is tightly connected to pos and neg cables on the bike. I'm going to remove the pigtail just to eliminate any issue that could possibly create (if any), but the battery itself doesn't seem to want to charge. Why would that be? Do I need to hit the restart button again to reset the battery?

odd about light. You've got it connected directly to battery? why would it complain about connection quality?
Also measure battery voltage immediately after turning off bike. Then measure again after couple hours. Perhaps you've got parasitic drain when off that's draining battery to cutoff voltage? |

It is odd. I have it hooked directly to the battery. I'll check the voltage when I get home today.
