HARLEY'S new Livewire prototype electric bike will star in the forthcoming ‘Avengers’ movie, continuing the firm’s tie-in with the series of film adaptions of Marvel comics.

Captain America has already appeared on several H-Ds over the course of two films, and in the new Avengers film, titled ‘Age of Ultron,’ the Livewire is set to be ridden by ‘Black Widow’ (Scarlett Johansson).

Putting aside the fact that, for those of us old enough to remember it, the words ‘Black Widow’ when related to motorcycles in movies will forever be connected to the bumbling Black Widows gang in Clint Eastwood’s Every Which Way but Loose and Any Which Way You Can, the Marvel tie in has got to be good news for getting Harley’s electric project the sort of mainstream attention that it’s going to need if the firm is to be successful in attracting riders outside the firm’s traditional demographic. And lets face it, the electric Livewire is certainly not targeting traditional Harley riders.

One question remains… Will Hollywood be able to fight off the seemingly irresistible urge to dub the wrong sound over the Livewire’s scenes? Or will it’s appearance be accompanied by a gratingly incongruous V-twin, or screaming four-cylinder soundtrack?

The Livewire appeared over the weekend in its ‘Avengers’ make-up at Comic-Con in San Diego, and at the same time prototypes (minus the Avengers garb) were available at San Diego’s Harley dealership for potential customers to ride and offer feedback to the firm.
