OIL! 2010 Ninja 250r
Changed my oil today with Castrol Actevo (from AMSOIL) and after a few runs, I noticed that it was not as smooth as before.. it like "loose" and feel that the Ninja always jerks forward as I release the clutch no matter how smooth the release.. does anyone have the same experience? shall I drain the oil and go back to Amsoil or probably try rotella?

Check your oil level with the bike bolt upright, should be between the two marks.
How many miles did you do on your old oil? It could be that your old oil was crappy and it may feel bitey now, but is actually how it should be. |

I ran Castrol Act Evo X-tra 4T 20W-50 for 3 1/2 years. With no problems. Loved the stuff. I did use Amsoil once. Didn't like the way it made the bike shift. Went right back to the Castrol. Ran Mobil 1 for the riding season. debating on whether to go back to the Castrol. I guess it all depends on the bike.

I don't think I ever let my Castrol Act-evo stay in that long. 1500 miles was the average miles between changes, because I was getting it cheap.

I've run Rotella T6 and most recently Castrol 4T RS 10W-40, and I like the way the Castrol shifts better in my SV650. T6 is decent, but will shear down fairly quickly and gave notchy shifting after 1000 mi or so when it was hot. See if you notice that happening with the Ninja.
Never been an Amsoil fan, but I'm sure it's fine. The Mobil1 cycle oil might be worth a try as well. I wouldn't run anything thicker than a 10W-40, the exception would be Rotella T 15W-40 - but that's only if temps are always above 50 or so. 5W-40 Rotella T6 is a good choice if the temps are dropping. |

You should test Motul 300V - I'm sure you'll never turn back.

So I did change to Rotella T6... Idle, shifting, roll on an off are now silky smooth! unbelievable! Thanks all for the recommendation.
