Any good HUD options?

I like the idea of adding HUD technology to vehicles, whether it displays directly on the helmet visor, or windshield, it is all good. I find very little info on google, and you tube, and find only two products, which I don't even know is still available, as the dates on most of the articles are pretty old. Those are the SPORTVUE, and Veypor.

Has anyone tried either a commercially available product, or experimented with your own idea?

Ive always wanted to do it, searched it years before I even had my bike, I have some ideas. Its just hard to get your eyes to focus on something that close to your face. I think I'm going to play around with the gear gauge and see if I can make something with that, that will fit on the helmet

This looks like an unbelievable price: http://www.amazon.com/Motion-Researc...3872089&sr=8-1

Makes me wonder if it is one of the last units. If business wasn't so slow during the summer, I would be the Ninjette guinea pig Anyone else wanna try - please let us know how it is.

A little more poking around shows that is very likely disconntinued. 9 left on Amazon (as of today).

I've thought about this extensively myself and came across the sportvue as well. To my understanding it doesnt show enough to be useful. HUD's are cool but with our gauge system as informative as it is, what else do you need shown?

I'm thinking more like a gps visor overlay that has a faint arrow where you need to turn. Kinda like forza motorsports line guide that turns red when you need to brake hard.

I agree, but have to admit, even with limited functionality, it is really about the cool factor for me.

You couldn't wear these with a fullface street helmet, but I would kill for a Pair of These when riding dirt.

.... or for walking around in everyday life, for that matter

Yes, that is the other unit I was thinking about... in fact, when they were first announced a couple years ago, I thought it was a hoax. They look like a pretty significant step forward.

There's guy from a local forum I'm on that is developing a type of blind spot monitoring system for motorcycles that will have a hud type display on the helmet. So far it looks really interesting and hes hoping that he'll have a working prototype by the end of the summer last I heard.

Its always cool to wear glasses

I couldn't find the nerd with glasses emoticon so put this instead.

Any way in terms of my HUD don't even plan on seeing it until the end of summer. Most likely a proper version will be done by the end of this year. Mine's somewhat similar to the one featured on engadget.

Definetly and thats how it should be. The one I am working on is based on a hobby of mine, so even if there was a final version, I wouldnt be selling it to the masses. Might sell the idea etc to some one but thats about it. So i really don't have a reason to compete with google in terms of when it is released, and currently with school, work and everything else I wouldn't have the time to.
