1995 250 Generator
My 250 was leaking oil from where the wires come out of the case for the generator so I pulled it apart to replace the gasket and sealer around the rubber grommet. I thought I remembered where everything went but it appears my memory isn't as good as I thought (imagine that lol)
Does anyone have a picture or diagram of how the wires are routed inside the casing? I thought they passed under the pick up coil but the wires from the generator are too long or not long enough, depending on which way I orient the coils. Also, I have a U shaped plastic piece that fell out of the cover somewhere and I can't determine where is goes. The parts manual calls it a damper but doesn't show where it attaches. Thanks for any help! |

Here is a pretty good pic I found on ebay.
Also according to the FSM the damper goes between the clamp and the crankshaft sensor. Hope that is all you need to complete the repair.

Also note that rubber grommet that cables go through is rectangular. Make sure it's oriented in same direction as rectangle opening in case. There have been instances where grommet has been inserted 90-degrees off and that left gap for oil to leak through.
